What clarity actually requires
- Specific enough to answer. "I want something serious" isn't answerable. "I'm dating to find a long-term partner, not casually" is.
- Early enough to matter. Before attachment forms, not after.
- Held without pressure. Clarity is an invitation to opt in, not a demand.
Try this
Write one sentence you'd be willing to say on a second date. Read it back and remove every word that exists to soften it. What's left is usually true and usually says itself fine.
Why it works
Clarity doesn't get you more matches. It gets you shorter wrong ones — which is the same thing as more time for the right one. And it filters in the specific kind of person who is relieved rather than spooked by directness.
Next principle: Curiosity. Back to the Intentional Dating Framework. Foundation: relationship readiness.
