Take the free assessmentReadiness is easier to see in behavior than to feel from the inside. Here are nine signs that tend to show up together — and a few that people mistake for readiness but aren't.
Nine signs
- You can describe what you need without listing what your ex did wrong.
- You bring up small irritations early, while they're still small.
- A disagreement changes your tone but not your respect.
- You can hear "no" without reading it as rejection of you.
- You apologize before you're pushed to.
- Your sense of worth doesn't move much with someone's response time.
- You slow down when something feels intense rather than speeding up.
- You notice red flags out loud instead of privately explaining them away.
- You can end something pleasant that isn't right.
Three things that look like readiness but aren't
Being fully healed. Nobody arrives finished. Capacity matters more than completeness.
Having no anxiety about dating. Some anxiety means you're taking it seriously.
Being certain about a person quickly. Certainty early is usually information about your nervous system, not about them — which is the argument we make in "You'll just know" is one of the most harmful dating myths.
If most of these aren't true yet
That's useful information, not a verdict. Start with how to become relationship ready, and read how the readiness badges work so the result reads as a starting point rather than a grade. The full guide lives at relationship readiness.
